Fellowships and Internships

At CRC 1270 ELAINE, we are committed to supporting early-career researchers and inspiring the next generation of scientists. Through fellowships, research internships, and international exchange programmes, we offer students and young researchers opportunities to explore our interdisciplinary research, gain hands-on experience, and discover potential pathways into an academic career.

IRTG Fellowships

The Integrated Research Training Group (IRTG) of SFB 1270 ELAINE offers fellowships to support medical students interested in gaining insights into our interdisciplinary research. We will support up to two concurrent fellowships for medical students, providing them with the opportunity to engage with our research activities and gain experience in a collaborative scientific environment.

These fellowships aim to foster early scientific engagement and introduce medical students to the possibilities of research within CRC 1270 ELAINE.

Further information on available fellowships, eligibility criteria, and application procedures will be provided here.

DAAD RISE Programme

CRC 1270 ELAINE participates in the DAAD Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) programme, which offers undergraduate students from abroad the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience at German universities.

Our doctoral researchers play an active role in the programme: they can propose their own research internship projects, publish internship opportunities through the programme, and select suitable candidates to work with them. This provides valuable opportunities for our early-career researchers to gain experience in project development, mentoring, and research supervision while fostering international scientific exchange.

The programme benefits both visiting students, who gain insights into academic research in Germany, and our doctoral researchers, who can develop important skills in supervising and supporting the next generation of scientists.

During the first funding period, five undergraduate students had the opportunity to explore CRC 1270 ELAINE and gain insights into our interdisciplinary research. In the second funding period, the CRC hosted six undergraduate students, each of whom spent between 10 and 17 weeks conducting research under the supervision of doctoral researchers within the CRC.

Further information is available on the DAAD RISE website.

Female Internships

We are committed to encouraging women from other countries to explore scientific research and consider an academic career. Through our female internship opportunities, we aim to provide participants with first-hand experience of research at SFB 1270 ELAINE, introduce them to our interdisciplinary scientific community, and offer insights into the opportunities and challenges of pursuing a career in academia.

By welcoming female students and early-career researchers from diverse international backgrounds, we seek to foster scientific exchange, broaden perspectives, and inspire the next generation of women in research.
