DFG Extends Funding for Innovative Research on Electrically Active Implants

We are excited to announce that the SFB 1270 ELAINE at the Universität Rostock will continue to receive funding!
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation has extended funding for research on electrically active implants at the Universität Rostock, Universitätsmedizin Rostock, and partner institutions. The third and final funding phase, which will run until June 2029, is expected to provide approximately 12 million euros to support ongoing research.

The focus of the research includes the use of electrical implants for treating bone and cartilage defects, as well as deep brain stimulation for treating neurological diseases like Parkinson's and dystonia. The team of about 80 researchers will also incorporate artificial intelligence into the development of these implants.

This success reflects the high quality of our research and the strong interdisciplinary collaboration across various fields. A huge thank you to the entire team for their dedication and hard work!

We are proud to continue advancing this pioneering research and contributing to the future of medical technology!
