CRC 1270 ELAINE Kicks Off Third Funding Phase: Innovation for Medicine and Technology

On March 4, 2026, we officially kicked off the third funding period of the CRC 1270 ELAINE project at the University of Rostock and University Medical Center. This marks a significant milestone in advancing cutting-edge research on electrically active implants, focused on regenerating bone and cartilage. The research also includes exploring electronic deep brain stimulation, aimed at improving the treatment of movement disorders such as those caused by Parkinson’s disease.

With the visit of Science Minister Bettina Martin, we celebrated the importance of this groundbreaking project, which brings together biomedicine, engineering, and digital technology to create innovative solutions for the future of healthcare.

The event featured a dynamic round table discussion on translating research into real-world applications, as well as a lab tour to showcase the incredible work happening in medical technology. Experts from academia, industry, and the start-up world gathered to discuss how scientific research drives economic innovation and benefits the healthcare system in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

It was an exciting day, and we’re thrilled about what lies ahead!
