We are proud to announce that Jacob Thönes, an associated doctoral researcher in subproject B06 of our CRC 1270 ELAINE, has won this year’s GitLab Best Practice Award for Research Data Management of the Universität Rostock.
The award was introduced this year by Prof. Nicole Wrage-Mönnig, Vice-Rector for Research, Talent Development, and Equal Opportunities, and is supported by the Research Data Management Taskforce. It honors outstanding and transparent methods for managing research data, with the aim of promoting transparency in research outcomes.
Jacob was awarded first place for his innovative approach to automatically generating data visualizations that can be directly integrated into publications written with LaTeX. His project demonstrates in an exemplary way how modern IT tools can support sustainable and reproducible research data management. The solution is easily adaptable by others and has the potential to benefit not only his own work but also the broader scientific community.
